A development strategy for the north-east region 1983-2001 was presented to me at its launching in Monaghan on 9 April 1984. My concern with the strategy arises from the infrastructural programmes of the local authorities for which capital allocations are made available under the public capital programme. Allocations to the individual local authorities in the region will have regard, where appropriate, to the needs outlined in the development strategy.
