Vol. 363 No. 1

Written Answers. - Income Tax Payments by Company Directors.

177.

asked the Minister for Finance the amount of income tax paid by company directors in 1984 and 1985; and the proportion this represents of total PAYE in each year.

It is tentatively estimated that company directors paid about £125 million in income tax in 1982-83, the latest year for which the relevant statistics are available. This represents approximately 9.5 per cent of the estimated total income tax paid under PAYE in that year.
