Vol. 363 No. 1

Written Answers. - Food Additive Regulations.

36.

asked the Minister for Health if he will make a statement on the reviews being undertaken on the use of additives in food and the regulations governing them.

Additives are approved for use in this country only after they have been approved by the EC Scientific Committee for Food and by our own Food Advisory Committee. The regulations, in the main based on EC Directives, are up-dated from time-to-time to take account of technological developments. These reviews would also take account of any new toxicological information.
