Vol. 363 No. 4

Written Answers. - Farm Tax.

57.

asked the Minister for the Environment the present position regarding arrangements for the payment of farm tax to local authorities during 1986.

The Farm Tax Act, 1985, provides for the supply to local authorities of lists prepared by the farm tax commissioner setting out details of farms classified by him. The classification is in progress. On receipt of these lists local authorities are required to assess individual farmers' liability to farm tax and, having publicised the fact that the assessments have been made, to demand payment. My Department will be in touch with local authorities in the near future, regarding the detailed procedures.
