Vol. 363 No. 4

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

59.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason for the delay in carrying out an inspection in connection with home improvement grant reapplication made by persons (details supplied) in County Galway.

There has been no undue delay in this case and an inspection will be carried out as soon as possible.

60.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will arrange for the immediate payment of new house grant to a person (details supplied) in County Galway.

A new house grant cannot be paid in this case because the floor area of the house is in excess of the statutory maximum allowable for grant purposes, i.e., 125 square metres (1,346 square feet).

61.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will immediately pay a £5,000 grant for vacating a local authority house to a person (details supplied) in County Wexford.

The processing of applications for the grant is a matter for the appropriate local authority up to the stage of certification for payment. A certificate by the local authority confirming that this applicant has complied with all the conditions for payment of the grant has not yet been received in my Department.

Mr. Cowen

asked the Minister for the Environment when a new house grant will be issued to persons (details supplied) in County Offaly.

A grant will be paid when an inspection establishes that the house is complete and occupied and that all the conditions of the grant scheme have been fulfilled. The inspection will be carried out as soon as possible.

Mr. Cowen

asked the Minister for the Environment when payment of a house improvement grant will be issued to a person (details supplied) in County Offaly.

This grant will be paid as soon as possible.

Mr. Cowen

asked the Minister for the Environment when payment of a new house grant will be made to a person (details supplied) in County Offaly as the house has been inspected and passed in September 1985 and the applicant was told payment would be made shortly.

There is no record in my Department of the receipt of an application for a new house grant from the person named. However, an application was received from a person with the same name and a broadly similar address. In that case a £1,000 new house grant will be paid shortly.
