asked the Minister for Justice if the Garda have undertaken any investigation, or if any is planned, into claims that member of the Dáil were offered bribes to induce them to support legislative changes relating to gaming and that a sum of £5,000 had been paid into the election fund of one constituency party in Dublin; the outcome of any such investigations; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Limerick East): I am informed by the Garda authorities that they made initial inquiries into the allegations referred to but that no official statement of complaint on which they could base a detailed investigation has been received by them.
