Vol. 363 No. 7

Written Answers. - County Monaghan Street Lighting.

45.

asked the Minister for the Environment when it is proposed to allocate funds to provide street lighting in each town in County Monaghan, along national primary road number 2.

The question of allocating funds for traffic route lighting in towns on the N2 in County Monaghan arises when details of traffic route lighting schemes for those towns have been submitted by Monaghan County Council and approved by my Department.

In 1984, a road grant was committed by the Department to meet the cost of a scheme of traffic route lighting at Emyvale on the national primary route N2. In December 1985, the local authority submitted detailed proposals for a traffic route lighting scheme at Carrickmacross; these proposals are being examined by the Department. There are no detailed proposals before the Department for traffic route lighting schemes in other towns on the N2.
