Vol. 363 No. 8

Written Answers. - County Donegal Herring Trawling.

36.

asked the Minister for Fisheries and Forestry if it is proposed to enforce a by-law to prevent large trawlers trawling for herrings inshore in Inver Bay, County Donegal.

Both the Naval Service and local fishery officers have recently been asked to check for possible infringements of this by-law. The matter has also been brought to the attention of the Killybegs Fishermen's Association, who are representative of fishing interests in the area, so that owners of trawlers will be aware of the provisions of the by-law. In addition copies of the by-law are on display at Killybegs fishery harbour centre.
