asked the Minister for the Environment when a person (details supplied) in County Wexford will receive written confirmation of his house improvement grant under the old scheme as the consent of owners, Wexford Corporation, to proposed work was submitted before Christmas.

The consent of the owners to improvement works being carried out to the house was received on 21 January 1986 and a certificate of approval of the grant has since issued to the applicant.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a house improvement grant inspection will take place for an applicant (details supplied) in County Wexford; and if he agrees that the delays being experienced by such applicants are causing enormous difficulties for the construction industry.

There has been no undue delay in the processing of this application and an inspection will be carried out as soon as possible.

As regards inspections generally, I have taken a number of measures to cope with the continuing high intake of applications for grants. These include making use of the service of some retired inspectors, the introduction of a bonus scheme for the permanent inspectorate and as I announced recently the engagement of further temporary inspectors, through the National Manpower Service.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a house improvement grant application inspection will take place for a person (details supplied) in County Wexford.

An inspection will be carried out as soon as possible.

asked the Minister for the Environment how soon an inspection might be carried out for a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny in respect of his housing reconstruction grant application.

An inspection will be carried out as soon as possible.
