Vol. 363 No. 10

Written Answers. - St. Enda's (Dublin) Sports Complex.

189.

asked the Minister for Education if she is aware of the serious financial difficulties at present affecting the operation of St. Enda's sports complex, Galvone Road, due to the failure of funding bodies, including her Department, to agree their commitment with regard to the funding of the complex, as a result of which the staff have now been issued with protective notice; the proposals, if any, she has for resolution of the problem; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

I am aware that St. Enda's sports complex has been experiencing financial problems. My Department has taken appropriate action as a result of which the need to put into effect the protective notice which had been issued to the staff should not now arise.

My Department has fully complied with its commitments under the agreed arrangements for the financing of this sports complex, and is in consultation with the other parties concerned, with a view to obviating any recurrence of the financial difficulties which have been recently experienced in the running of the complex.
