Vol. 363 No. 10

Written Answers. - Replacement Industries for Cork.

38.

asked the Minister for Industry, Trade, Commerce and Tourism the progress, if any, which has been achieved in attracting replacement industries as promised by him and the Government to Cork to replace the loss of (a) traditional manufacturing industries and (b) service-type industries which were also lost in the last three years.

Since 1983, 70 new replacement industries were established with IDA assistance in Cork which have resulted in the creation of 510 jobs during that period. As part of their continuing efforts to attract industry to Cork, the IDA plan to undertake a promotional campaign shortly in the Far East in conjunction with Cork Harbour Commissioners to highlight the attractions of Cork as a location for industrial investment.
