In September last, proposals were submitted to the Department by Galway County Council for speed limit revision in the county as a whole. These proposals include a recommendation for an extension of the 30 mph and 40 mph speed limit on the Loughrea Road, Ballinasloe, (National Road N6). Examination of the council's proposals is proceeding as quickly as possible. In this connection, the submission by the council of revised documentation necessary to take account of boundary alterations associated with the recent conferral of county borough status on Galway city is awaited.
