Vol. 363 No. 13

Written Answers. - Sale of Butter.

195.

asked the Minister for Agriculture the level of interest in the Community's subsidised scheme, introduced in November, to encourage the sale of butter on markets previously held largely by imported vegetable oils; and the measures the Government are taking to ensure that the benefits of the scheme are passed on to the consumer.

Within the Community generally about 13,000 tonnes of butter have been processed into concentrated butter since last November. Supplies of the concentrated butter are expected to be available in Ireland at the end of this month and a promotion campaign will be launched shortly. A maximum retail price will be fixed for the product.
