Vol. 364 No. 1

Written Answers. - Inheritance Tax Liabilities.

83.

asked the Minister for Finance if in relation to a taxpayer (details supplied) in County Limerick he considers that it is anomalous to have interest charges accruing on inheritance tax liabilities while waiting for a clearance certificate on capital gains being processed in another office of the Revenue Commissioners since the delay is solely due to non-resident regulations interpretation.

I have been advised by the Revenue Commissioners that no representations have been made to them in relation to the interest accruing on the outstanding inheritance tax but that they are prepared to consider any such representations if the delay in paying that tax arises from any delay in the ascertainment of a capital gains tax liability.
