Vol. 364 No. 2

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take Nos. 6, 19, 2, 20, 21 and 4. Private Members' Business shall be No. 45. By agreement, the Dáil shall sit later than 9 p.m. today and not later than 11 p.m. and business shall be interrupted at 10.30 p.m. Also by agreement, the proceedings on item No. 63 and the remaining Stages of No. 19 shall be brought to a conclusion not later than 1.30 p.m. today by one question which shall be put from the Chair and which shall, in relation to amendments, include only amendments set down by the Minister for Communications.

Also by agreement, all remaining Stages of No. 2 shall be brought to a conclusion not later than 10.30 p.m. today by one question which shall be put from the Chair and which shall, in relation to amendments, include only amendments set down by the Minister for Justice. Also, by agreement, business after Private Members' Business shall be confined to No. 2, if not previously disposed of, and No. 4.

I want to ask the Taoiseach and the Minister for Justice if there are any proposals before the Government to amend the Gaming and Lotteries Act to provide for the continuation of the popular quiz programmes on RTE television, as the disruption of these quizzes has affected the revenue of An Post.

That does not arise.

It does, because I am referring to the Gaming and Lotteries Act. Have the Minister or the Taoiseach any proposals before the Government to amend this Act to allow for the continuation of these programmes on RTE?

There are no proposals before the Government.

Is the Minister for Justice aware of the——

——disruption of television programmes as a result of the investigation by the Director of Public Prosecutions? The Taoiseach should be aware of the situation and of the difficulty that has been created.

Deputy Leyden, I cannot allow that.

Let me ask the Taoiseach if the Government have made any decision in relation to the bus company in Shannon. The continuing closure there has put 400 people out of work.

That does not arise.

It does because the Government have a communication from the Minister for Communications.

The Deputy only thinks it arises; the Chair says it does not.
