Vol. 364 No. 3

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

26.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a person (details supplied) in County Wexford will be paid a house improvement grant; and the reason for the delay.

There is no record of the receipt in my Department of an application for a house improvement grant from the person named. However, there is an application for a new house grant and in that case the reason for delay has been that the applicant has not so far provided documentation necessary to establish her entitlement to the grant.

27.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason for the delays on house improvement grant applications (details supplied) in County Wexford; when each inspection will take place and if he is aware that a particular aluminium window company due to carry out these works will have to close for three weeks with the loss of 20 jobs unless the works can commence.

The Deputy will be aware of my announcement earlier this week that the need for prior inspection is being dispensed with in the case of all valid applicatiosn for house improvement grants, under the 1985 scheme, received in the Department on or before Tuesday, 25 February 1986. Any of the persons named who have made valid applications and who have not yet received a visit from an inspector, will be sent a letter of approval by my Department by 10 March. The work involved should not be commenced before receipt of such letter and will, of course, be subject to the requirements applicable (other than the prior inspection requirement) when the person concerned applied for the grant.
