Vol. 364 No. 4

Written Answers. - Prison Medical Appointment.

21.

asked the Minister for Justice when he intends to appoint a prison medical officer; and the qualifications required for the post.

I presume that the Deputy is referring to the appointment of a director of medical services for the prison service.

The position is that this post will be advertised in the near future by the Civil Service Commission who will conduct the competition on behalf of my Department. Advertisements will be placed in the national daily newspapers and in the usual medical journals. The qualifications required for the post are currently being finalised with the Civil Service Commission and will be set out in the advertisement.
