Vol. 364 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Social Employment Scheme.

11.

asked the Minister for Education if he is satisfied with the take up of the social employment scheme by school authorities; and if efforts have been made to involve more schools in the scheme in view of the useful work which could be carried out.

I am informed by the Minister for Labour that, of the 2,983 projects approved to date under the Social Employment Scheme, 1,626 — 54.5 per cent — are in the education sector.

My Department issued a circular and explanatory material on the scheme to school authorities in August 1985, urging them to participate to the greatest extent possible.
