Vol. 364 No. 7

Written Answers. - Capital Grants Scheme.

192.

asked the Minister for Labour the amount of money available for facelift grants scheme applications for the year ended 31 December 1986; the total number of applications received; and the amounts of money made available for the years 1984 and 1985.

The facelift grant scheme was introduced in 1985 as part of the capital grants scheme administered by my Department and is designed to assist youth organisations to improve their facilities. Since the commencement of the facelift scheme in 1985, total grant-aid amounting to £272,727 has been allocated to 38 projects.

There is no specific financial allocation for the facelift scheme. It is financed as part of the total budget for the capital grants scheme. A total sum of £1.2 million is available in 1986 under the capital grants scheme to meet existing commitments and for allocation to new projects, including facelift projects.
