Vol. 364 No. 7

Written Answers. - Grant and Mortgage Subsidy Payments.

42.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will confirm that the application for a house improvement grant made by a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny has been received and, if so, if he will arrange to have an early inspection carried out with a view to approval of the grant.

There is no record in my Department of the receipt of an application for a house improvement grant under the 1985 scheme from the person named. There is, however, an application from a person with the same name from a broadly similar address. In that case, the need for a prior inspection has been dispensed with in accordance with the Minister's recent announcement and a letter has issued to the applicant authorising him to proceed with the work.

43.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason a £5,000 relocation grant has not been paid to a person (details supplied) in County Tipperary who transferred from a county council house at Spafield Crescent, Cashel; and when this grant will be paid.

Applications for the £5,000 grant are handled entirely by the appropriate local authority up to the stage of certification for payment. A certificate from the local authority confirming that this applicant has complied with all the conditions for payment of the grant has not yet been received by my Department.

44.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a person (details supplied) in County Monaghan will receive a new house grant.

There is no record of the receipt in my Department of an application for a new house grant from the person named.

45.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason a person (details supplied) in County Waterford was refused a new house grant in 1978-79.

One of the statutory conditions governing payment of the new house grant is that the foundation for the house, the subject of the appliction, must not have been completed prior to 27 May 1977. The applicant indicated that the foundations were poured in January 1977.

46.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a new house grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Waterford.

A new house grant will be paid to the person named when a final inspection establishes that the house has been satisfactorily completed and occupied and that all the conditions of the grant scheme have been fulfilled. The inspection will be carried out within the next two weeks.

47.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason for the delay in carrying out an inspection in connection with a home improvement grant application lodged in November 1985, by a person (details supplied) in County Galway.

The need for a prior insepction has been dispensed with in accordance with the Minister's recent announcement and a letter has issued to the applicant authorising him to proceed with the work.

48.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason for the delay in the inspection and approval of a home improvement grant for a person (details supplied) in County Galway.

There has been no undue delay in this case. The application was received on 20 December 1985, and a maximum grant of £800 was approved on 24 January 1986.

49.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will arrange for the immediate payment of a mortgage subsidy to a person (details supplied) in County Galway.

The first instalment of the mortgage cannot be paid until the full amount of a grant from Roinn na Gaeltachta has been paid and my Department notified accordingly.
