Vol. 364 No. 10

Written Answers. - Beef Intervention Proposals

161.

(Limerick West) asked the Minister for Agriculture the cost to the Irish beef producer of the proposed EC curtailment of the intervention system.

While varying estimates have been made, there is not enough detailed information yet available to enable the potential cost of the Commission proposal to Irish beef producers to be accurately estimated. My approach is to concentrate on having the proposal fundamentally altered during the current negotiations.
