Written Answers. - Disadvantaged Areas Scheme.

168.

asked the Minister for Agriculture the changes which are envisaged to take place in the less severely disadvantaged areas within the next six to eight months, as far as grants are concerned.

Subject to clearance by the EC, the principal changes proposed under the 1986 disadvantaged areas scheme in relation to the less severely handicapped areas (including new areas recently classified as such) are the rates of payment on beef cows which will be increased from £32 to £70 and from £28 to £66.
