Vol. 364 No. 10

Written Answers. - Redesignation of Road.

73.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will up-grade the road from the Killarney-Cork junction at Poulgorm bridge to Kenmare town from a regional road to a secondary or primary road; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The present national road system, primary and secondary, is now generally regarded as established, having been formally declared in 1977 following a long process of evaluation and consultation. The road from the junction of the Killarney-Cork road at Poulgorm bridge is designated as regional road R.569, and does not warrant redesignation as a national primary or secondary road, having regard to the criteria used for such designation.
