In the three-month period ending on 31 March 1986, a total of 195 armed robberies and armed aggravated burglaries were recorded by the Garda, of which 15 have been detected so far. In relation to this latter figure, it should be borne in mind that statistics relating to the detection of crimes committed in a particular period which has just ended may tend to be misleading in the sense that it is to be expected that further detections will be made in relation to some of these crimes.
