Vol. 365 No. 1

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

84.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will consider having the closing off of attics for safety purposes incorporated into the grants scheme; and if he will consider the applications of the residents of the Inisfallen Parade area, Dublin 7, for grant aid to have their attics closed off.

As the work in question would be regarded as necessary in relation to the fabric of the house it will qualify for grant assistance, provided the cost of the proposed work, as estimated by the Department, is at least £500 (i.e. the minimum qualifying limit for this category of work under the scheme) and the other conditions of the scheme have been fulfilled. There is no record of the receipt of an application from the residents association referred to by the Deputy and it is not possible to check on individual cases in the absence of the names and addresses of the applicants.

85.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a house improvement grant application for the replacement of windows will be reinspected for a person (details supplied) in County Carlow.

The inspection in question will be carried out at an early date.
