The Committee on Garda Training has presented to the Commissioner a report concerning the basic training of new entrants to the Garda Síochána and I have received a copy. The committee are still working on some additions which they wish to make to that report and it is expected that the completed document will be submitted to the Commissioner in the near future.
The document so far available is already under consideration in my Department. My hope is that it will be possible to implement at least some of the recommendations in time to benefit the new entrants to the Garda Síochána who will come from the next recruitment competition. I have not as yet come to any decision in regard to publication of the report.
