Vol. 365 No. 4

Written Answers. - Castlehaven (Cork) School.

221.

asked the Minister for Education the reasons for the delay in providing a new primary school at Castlehaven, County Cork; and when work will commence.

My Department had hoped that the contract documents for the proposed new primary school at Castlehaven, County Cork, would have been ready by now. This has not been possible because of the departure of the design architect from the Department's service and the necessity to assign the project to another architect who had to familiarise himself with the background, the site for the project being a difficult one.

It is now expected that the documents will be ready in about three months' time, when the question of inviting tenders will arise for consideration. I am asking an officer of my Department's primary buildings branch to keep in touch with the school authorities as to progress. I am not in a position, at this stage, to say when building work may commence.
