Vol. 365 No. 5

Written Answers - Tax Refunds.

41.

asked the Minister for Finance the reason tax refunds due to a person (details supplied) in County Wexford for the years 1983-84 and 1984-85 were not paid; and if he will make a statement on the mater.

I have been advised by the Revenue Commissioners that a review of the taxpayer's liability for the year 1984-85 was completed on 16 April 1985. A cheque in settlement of the refund found to be due was issued to him on 22 April 1985.

The taxpayer was unemployed for a period of almost three months during 1983-84. Two repayments of tax on the grounds of unemployment were made to him during that period. He resumed employment during the year. The inspector will now communicate directly with the taxpayer requesting the details which are necessary to enable a review of his tax liability for 1983-84 to be carried out.

asked the Minister for Finance when a tax refund will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Wexford.

I have been advised by the Revenue Commissioners that the inspector of taxes who has been dealing with the taxpayer's affairs has not received a formal claim for a repayment of tax from the taxpayer. Following a telephone call from the taxpayer the appropriate form to enable her to submit a repayment claim was issued to her on 11 April 1986.
