Vol. 365 No. 6

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take No. 21.

I wish to raise on the Adjournment the matter of the proposed closure by the Office of Public Works of Skellig Rock during the 1986 tourist season.

The Chair will communicate with the Deputy.

(Limerick West): Will the Taoiseach allow Government time next week to debate the crises in agriculture, the widespread deaths of cattle in western areas and the shortage of fodder?

That is not a matter for the Order of Business but one that would be the subject of agreement between the Whips.

(Limerick West): Will the Taoiseach consider a debate on the matter next week?

As I have said, the matter would be one to be arranged between the Whips.

I wish to raise on the Adjournment the failure of the Department of Education to provide school transport for a child in Roscommon. The reason the child is being deprived of this facility is that she is a girl.

The Chair will communicate with the Deputy.

Has the Taoiseach any proposal to make time available within the next few weeks for a full discussion on the Libyan crisis in the context of the meeting taking place this morning in Paris of EC Foreign Ministers?

Since I do not know what the outcome of the Paris meeting will be, I cannot comment on the Deputy's question. The matter is only under consideration yet.

In view of the urgency involved, are the Taoiseach and the Minister for Education prepared to ensure that the proposed mediation talks using the Employer-Labour Conference will begin immediately?

That does not arise on the Order of Business.

There is no proposal for mediation talks, as the Deputy is well aware.

That is not what the Minister said last night.

Let not the Deputies opposite try that one on.

On a point of order, it is on the record of the House that last evening the Minister for Education said he would have no objection to using the Employer-Labour Conference and if that was to be called mediation, so be it.

What the Deputy is saying is not true.

Could we have clarification of what the Minister intended?

The Deputy is out of order.

What the Minister said is on the record of the House.

What is on the record, in so far as there is a record of the House at this stage, is the proposal that the Employer-Labour Conference might be used as a channel of communication. The Deputy is well aware of that.
