Written Answers. - Grants to Local Authorities.
Grants under subhead M of my Department's Vote are payable to all rating authorities. The amounts paid to each rating authority in 1985 and the provisional allocations for 1986 are set out in the following tabular statement. For comparison purposes, the latter figures reflect the estimated effect of both the abolition of the levy in respect of supplementary welfare benefit to which note (e), page 89, of the Revised Estimates for the Public Service relates, and the additional moneys made available to the local authorities concerned for current purposes by the easing of restrictions on the use of certain housing receipts which do not come within the scope of the published Public Service Estimates.
