Vol. 365 No. 6

Written Answers. - Fodder Shortages.

55.

(Limerick West) asked the Minister for Agriculture if he is considering the serious loss of grass growth caused by the severe spring weather and the fodder shortages resulting from the summer of 1985; and if he proposes to take any action to alleviate the position of livestock owners.

My information is that there are reasonable stocks of fodder in the country but as happened last autumn much of it is not located where it is needed most. Ample supplies of feeding stuffs are also available throughout the country. In many instances the situation could be alleviated if the advice of the local ACOT advisers is sought. In some cases the local veterinary surgeon may need to be consulted.
