Vol. 365 No. 8

Written Answers. - Extension of Disadvantaged Areas.

66.

asked the Minister for Agriculture when he will notify the Department of the Environment of the extension of the disadvantaged areas so that the Department of the Environment can notify the local authorities to repair roads, and take them over under the local improvement areas.

Presumably what the Deputy has in mind is the extension of the western package to the additional areas recently included in the disadvantaged areas of the west. The position is that this matter will have to await the formal modification of the programme under which the package operates. Proposals for a review of the package have been forwarded to the EC Commission, whose reaction is now awaited.
