asked the Minister for the Environment when an inspection will be carried out for a person (details supplied) in County Waterford who has been approved for a house improvement grant.

This application is among those covered by the dispensation from the prior inspection requirement. Notification has issued to the applicant, authorising him to proceed with the work in respect of which his application was made subject to the conditions of the scheme (other than the prior inspection requirement) applicable when he applied for the grant. Notification of completion of work has not so far been received.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a £1,200 home improvement grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Louth.

Maximum grants for the installation of sewerage facilities, the provision of a bathroom and the carrying out of necessary repairs were approved under the 1981 house improvement grants scheme. An inspection was recently carried out and the sewerage grant has been paid. When notification of the completion of the outstanding works has been received, a further inspection will be arranged with a view to payment of the balance of the grants.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason a new house grant has not been paid to a person (details supplied) in County Mayo; and if he will make a statement on this case.

There is no record of the receipt in my Department of an application for a new house grant from the person named.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason a new house grant has not been paid to a person (details supplied) in County Westmeath and if he will make a statement on the matter.

There is no record of the receipt in my Department of an application for a new house grant from the person named.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will arrange to pay a new house grant to a person (details supplied) in County Offaly.

asked the Minister for the Environment when the inspection in respect of a new house grant application will be carried out for a person (details supplied) in County Kildare, having regard to the fact that he applied on 17 December 1985.

The house has been inspected and the grant will be paid within the next few weeks.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason a person (details supplied) in County Kerry is not being paid a new house grant even though several requests have been made regarding payment.

A recent inspection established that further work had to be carried out to the house. Payment of the grant will be made when a further inspection establishes that the house has been satisfactorily completed and the other conditions for payment have been fulfilled.

(Limerick West) asked the Minister for the Environment the present position with regard to an application for a house improvement grant from a person (details supplied) in County Limerick.

An inspection is being arranged with a view to the approval of a grant.

(Limerick West) asked the Minister for the Environment the reason approval was not issued in respect of an application for a house improvement grant from a person (details supplied) in County Limerick.

asked the Minister for the Environment when an inspection will be carried out for a person (details supplied) in County Limerick in conjunction with an application for a house improvement grant.

A grant for the replacement of windows/doors cannot be paid at this stage as a period of seven years has not elapsed since the payment of a £5,000 grant to the applicant in connection with the surrender of a local authority house.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a house improvement grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Limerick.

An inspection is being arranged with a view to the approval of a grant. When notification that the works have been completed is received in the Department, a further inspection will be carried out at that stage with a view to the payment of the grant.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a house improvement grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Carlow as this development has been inspected and approved for some time.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will confirm that garages in excess of 200 square feet will disqualify applicants for new house grants; and if he will take steps to bring this new regulation to the notice of all applicants for new house grants.

From 1 January 1986 a limit of 18 sq. m (194 sq. ft. approximately) applies to the size of a garage that may be excluded from the calculation of the floor area of a house for which a new house grant is sought. The limit was advertised extensively in the national and provincial press in October 1985 and is set out in the Memorandum HAI which issues with the application form for all new house grants.
