Vol. 365 No. 10

Written Answers. - Community Training Workshops.

153.

asked the Minister for Labour the progress which is being made with the application to AnCO for the establishment of an all-Irish community training workshop for Dublin's northside.

A national committee comprising of AnCO and the Youth Employment Agency has been established to consider applications for sanction to set up community training workshops. Two such workshops have already been set up in the Ballymun-Santry area. A formal application was received at Finglas training centre from the Irish Community Workshop Committee in February 1986. The committee was informed by AnCO in March 1986 that the AnCO 1986 allocation for community training workshops was fully committed and that a national evaluation of community training workshops was at present being undertaken by the AnCO/Youth Employment Agency Committee.

The outcome of the national evaluation is not expected for some months yet. The application from the Irish community workshop committee will be considered in the light of the proposals arising out of the national evaluation.
