asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce the price of a standard loaf of bread in January 1981 and January 1986; and the price of a pint of milk in January 1981 and 1986.

Limerick East): The maximum price of an 800g wrapped pan in January 1981 was 44p. The price of bread was decontrolled on 1 August 1982. The prevailing price of an 800g wrapped pan in January 1986 was 67p. However the retail market for bread is extremely competitive and the 800g wrapped pan is available at prices substantially below the prevailing prices.

The maximum price of a pint of milk in January 1981 was 15½p in Dublin and 15p in the rest of the country. The maximum price in January 1986 was 25p in Dublin and 24p in the rest of the country.
