Vol. 366 No. 8

Written Answers. - Electricity Connection Costs.

33.

asked the Minister for Energy the reason a person (details supplied) in County Galway has been refused EC assistance towards electricity connection costs.

The objectives of the western package electrification scheme were included in a programme of measures approved by the EC Commission in March 1981. The programme approved by the Commission allows for connection to electricity supply, of dwellings on farms which do not have an existing supply. Strict adherence to the programme in this regard is required by the EC.

The person referred to by the Deputy applied for the extension of electricity supply to a new dwelling on a farm which is, as indicated in his application, already supplied with electricity and consequently he could not be offered grant assistance under the scheme.
