Vol. 366 No. 8

Written Answers. - House Improvement Grants.

75.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will comment on recent allegations that his Department are substantially cutting estimates supplied by applicants for home improvement grants; if he is aware of the effect this is having on the scheme; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

House Improvement Grants are not based on estimates supplied by applicants. Standard costings are used by inspectors to estimate the cost for grant purposes of individual schemes of improvement works to houses and the grants payable are based on the costs as so estimated.
