Vol. 366 No. 8

Written Answers. - Tax Refund.

90.

asked the Minister for Finance when a tax refund of £383 will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Galway who was made redundant in November, 1985.

I have been advised by the Revenue Commissioners that the taxpayer and her husband are assessable to income tax on their combined incomes in accordance with the provisions of section 194 of the Income Tax Act, 1967.

Since ceasing employment on 4 November 1985 the taxpayer submitted to the inspector of taxes two claims for repayment of income tax on the grounds of unemployment. The claims were dealt with and cheques in settlement were issued. Any further refund which may be due falls to be computed by way of a review of the liability on the joint income of both spouses for the year 1985-86. The inspector will now write to the husband for the additional information required to carry out the review.
