Vol. 366 No. 10

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

39.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will expedite a home improvement grant for a person (details supplied) in County Roscommon.

An inspection carried out on 5 May 1986 which was the fourth such inspection, has again confirmed that the works have not yet been satisfactorily carried out. The grant approved cannot be paid until the outstanding works as notified to the applicant have been fully completed.

Question Nos. 40 and 41 postponed.

42.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason an inspection has not been carried out for a person (details supplied) in County Meath who applied in December 1985; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

It was necessary to clarify certain details in relation to the contractor nominated to carry out the work. The required information has only recently been received and an inspection will be carried out within the next few weeks.

43.

Mr. Cowen

asked the Minister for the Environment when the second part of a new house grant will be granted to a person (details supplied) in County Offaly.

Where a house is built other than under contract, a £2,000 grant is paid provided that the house was not substantially completed by 1 May 1985. In this case my Department's inspector certified that a £1,000 grant was the appropriate rate of grant to be paid and payment was made accordingly on 9 May 1986.

44.

Mr. Cowen

asked the Minister for the Environment when an inspector will arrange for an inspection to be carried out on a dwelling house, the subject of an application for a house improvement grant made by a person (details supplied) in County Offaly.

An inspection will be carried out within the next few weeks.

45.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a £2,000 new house grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Louth.

An inspection in December last revealed that all work on the house had not been completed and the applicant was advised of the outstanding works. A further inspection will be arranged when notification is received that all works have been completed.

46.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason a house improvement grant has not been paid to a person (details supplied) in County Waterford.

This application, which related to the replacement of windows/doors has been refused because the required waiting period of seven years has not elapsed since payment of a previous reconstruction grant for the house in April 1981. The applicant was so informed on 17 February last.
