Vol. 367 No. 3

Written Answers. - Tax Refund.

49.

asked the Minister for Finance when a refund of income tax will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Galway.

I have been advised by the Revenue Commissioners that, following cessation of his employment on 22 November 1985 the taxpayer submitted to the inspector of taxes two claims for repayment of income tax on the grounds of unemployment. The claims were dealt with and cheques in settlement were issued to the taxpayer on 22 January and 9 April 1986.

The taxpayer advised the Collector General that he had not received the initial cheque but when a copy of that cheque, which had been negotiated by his wife, was sent to the taxpayer on 24 March, 1986 he did not pursue the matter further with the Collector General.
