Vol. 367 No. 3

Written Answers. - Dublin Fatal Accident.

51.

asked the Minister for Health if he will have an investigation carried out into the circumstances surrounding the death of a person (details supplied) in Dublin 12 who was hit by a bicycle and who lived for five days after the accident being a patient in Dublin hospitals; if, in view of the fact that his family do not know what he died from and do not yet have a death certificate, even though the accident took place more than 12 months ago, he will make a statement on the matter.

I understand from the hospital authorities that a post mortem examination was carried out on the person referred to by the Deputy on the day following his death. An inquest was held on 18 February 1986 and a certificate, which included particulars of cause of death, was issued to the Registrar. The death was registered on 24 February 1986. A certified copy of the entry in the Death Register may be obtained, for a fee of £3, from the General Register Office, Joyce House, 8 Lombard Street East, Dublin 2.
