An outline of proposed legislation to provide for the statutory registration of health and social professions was sent to the Irish Association of Social Workers in August 1982. The Department of Health proposes to review the basic considerations which led to the acceptance of the principle of statutory registration in 1982. When this review is completed I will take a decision regarding the necessity or otherwise of introducing the legislation.
