Vol. 367 No. 6

Written Answers. - Clare Water and Sewerage Schemes.

52.

asked the Minister for the Environment if additional funds will be provided for the further development of water and sewerage facilities in County Clare in view of the unsatisfactory situation in this area; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Significant progress has been made in the provision and improvement of public water and sewerage schemes in County Clare, particularly in recent years. The total amount of capital made available by the Government in the past three years for these schemes was £15½ million. Additional capital moneys are continuing to be made available on foot of approved loans — over £¾ million in draws so far this year — and funding will be provided at the appropriate stage in respect of all further schemes when approved.
