Vol. 367 No. 6

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

54.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason that a grant for renovation has not yet been granted to a person (details supplied) in County Galway; if he will now sanction this money immediately and direct that the work commence; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I have approved in principle the proposals of the local authority to carry out a scheme of remedial work to their houses at St. Grellan's Terrace, Ballinasloe. I have asked the council to carry out a pilot scheme initially to ensure that the best and most appropriate remedial works are undertaken and the submission of documents for this work is awaited.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a person (details supplied) in County Cavan will receive a home improvement grant.

Payment of the balance of the grant has been deferred in this case pending the submission by the supplier of the results of tests by the Institute for Industrial Research and Standards on roofing material used by the applicant. This information was requested on 11 June 1985.

56.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a person (details supplied) in County Cavan will receive authorisation to proceed with work under the home improvement grant scheme.

There is no record of the receipt in my Department of an application for a house improvement grant from the person named. There is, however, an application from a person with the same surname and address but a different Christian name. That application is among those covered by the dispensation from the prior inspection requirement and notification issued to the applicant authorising him to proceed with the work in respect of which his application was made subject to the conditions of the scheme (other than the prior inspection requirement) applicable when he applied.
