In the years 1983 to 1985 there was a total of 393 applications for decrees of divorce a mensa et thoro throughout the country. In order to ascertain the number of applications made by women it would be necessary to scrutinise the individual files in the various offices. This would require the expenditure of a disproportionate amount of staff time which cannot be spared. In the circumstances the information sought by the Deputy cannot be made available.
