Vol. 368 No. 1

Written Answers. - County Limerick School Transport.

175.

asked the Minister for Education if the transport section of his Department received a request from County Limerick VEC to fund an extra CIE bus to allow ten children from the Killenure-Boher area of County Limerick to attend secondary school in Doon, County Limerick; and if he will give sympathetic consideration to this request.

No such request from County Limerick VEC was received in my Department. However, I understand that the transport liaison officer for County Limerick, who is responsible for the administration of post primary school transport at local level, did receive such a request. To accede to it would be contrary to the terms of the post primary school transport scheme, since the areas referred to by the Deputy are in the city of Limerick post primary centre area. In the circumstances the transport liaison officer, I understand, has not acceded.
