Vol. 368 No. 3

Written Answers. - Disposal of Dublin Premises.

66.

asked the Minister for Finance when the Board of Works will reach agreement in respect of the disposal of 29 Marlborough Street, Dublin 1, to the corporation as this matter is now holding up a proposed new senior citizen scheme.

Dublin Corporation was originally interested in acquiring both No. 29 Marlborough Street, which is vacant and the premises at the rear of it which currently houses Government staff.

The Commissioners of Public Works informed the corporation that in the event of the sale proceeding they would be looking to recoup the cost of rehousing the staff. In view of the estimated costs involved however, the corporation indicated that it would be interested in acquiring No. 29 only, which the commissioners were prepared to agree to, subject to details of the future plans for the building being furnished. These have now been provided. They are satisfactory from the point of view of the commissioners and the disposal of the premises to the corporation will be arranged as soon as possible.
