asked the Minister for the Environment when a person (details supplied) in county Clare will receive his reconstruction grant.

An inspection will be carried out within a few weeks with a view to payment of a grant.

39.

Mr. Cowen

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will arrange for a revised inspection of work to be carried out by a person (details supplied) in County Offaly for a home improvement grant, who has been approved for a grant of £1,900 for a job which is estimated to cost £4,500, with a view to increasing the grant aid under the scheme to two-thirds of the estimated cost.

In accordance with practice down the years the amounts of house improvement grants are determined by reference to standard costings used by inspectors and are not based on builders' estimates. The grant of £1,930 allocated in this case represents two-thirds of the approved cost as estimated by the inspector. In the circumstances the question of a further inspection does not arise.

40.

Mr. Cowen

asked the Minister for the Environment when payment of a home improvement grant will now be made to a person (details supplied) in County Offaly.

This grant will be paid within the next few weeks.

asked the Minister for the Environment when written approval for a house improvement grant will be issued to a person (details supplied) in County Wexford.

The required waiting period of seven years has not elapsed since payment of previous reconstruction grant in respect of the particular house in April 1980. Accordingly, a grant cannot be approved at this stage. However, the applicant has been advised that, subject to the proposed works being deferred in the meantime, he may renew his application when the waiting period expires.

44.

asked the Minister for the Environment when written approval will be issued to a person (details supplied) in County Wexford who has a house improvement grant application with his Department.

A maximum grant of £2,000 has been approved in this case in respect of the building of a kitchen extension and the applicant was so informed on 10 June 1986.

53.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a home improvement grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Limerick, whose application was approved and who has submitted details of the completed work.

There is no record of the receipt in my Department of an application for a house improvement grant from the person named. There is, however, an application from a person with a different Christian name from a broadly similar address. In that case a final inspection has been arranged with a view to payment of a grant.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will specify the houses in Oakwood Grove, Clonburris, Clondalkin, Dublin 22, that will qualify for the site subsidy grant; when these grants will be paid; and if he will make a statement on the matter indicating whether grants will be paid to occupiers at present in possession of qualified houses, rather than original users who are no longer interested in the properties concerned.

55.
