Vol. 368 No. 5

Written Answers. - River Blackwater Pollution.

60.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he is aware of the high level of pollution in the Blackwater River which flows between Cappoquin and Youghal; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I understand that the river Blackwater is monitored regularly and that, in addition, Waterford and Cork County Councils jointly undertook an extensive survey of the river between Villierstown and Youghal during the summer of 1985. I am advised that both councils are satisfied that the quality of the water in the reach referred to by the Deputy is satisfactory.
