Vol. 368 No. 6

Written Answers. - Grant Payment.

73.

asked the Minister for Agriculture the reason a person (details supplied) in County Cork has not been paid headage grants in 1984 or 1985 even though his income has been submitted and is under £3,000.

My Department is unable to trace a 1984 application for headage grants from the person named. He was paid his 1985 calf premium grants in March.

He was deemed ineligible for grants under the 1985 suckler cow scheme because, on the basis of information supplied by him, his off-farm income of £3,415 was more than 50 per cent of his total income.

It is a condition of the 1985 cattle headage scheme that applicants must continue in farming activities in an area designated as disadvantaged for at least five years. As my Department understands that the person named resides outside the State he did not satisfy this condition and thus was deemed ineligible for cattle headage grants.
